Welcome to the Highland Society of Authors

The HSA is a non-profit organisation, open to all authors resident or working in the Highlands of Scotland who have been published by a recognised and/or commercial publisher.

Our primary aim is to raise the public profiles of authors working and resident in the Highlands, and to give the Highland Community as a whole access to our authors and their works, to which end we will endeavour to carry out a progam of readings, advice and workshops free of charge to all who wish to attend, as well as providing a rolling service of mentorships to as many aspiring writers as we are able.

Mentorships are guaranteed to be carried out by professional, published authors, and charges be kept to a minimum. We hope that by providing this service, we will be able to keep alive the already vibrant literary commmunity that already exists within the Highands, and be able to encourage its continuity.

Mentorships are not limited by geographical constraint, and are available to anyone and everyone worldwide, wherever you live. We fervently believe that writing is a wonderful and potentially life-enhancing occupation, and that as authors and writers of whatever genre, we shoud continue to encourage it where ever it emerges.

We may be writers who live in the geographically limited Highlands of Scotland, but very many of us have lived and worked elsewhere, and are by no means ignorant of the outside world, and welcome all aspiring writers into our mentorship fold.
